So it occurred to me just now that as I have already started along my path to becoming a "Molly Mormon," as I have heard quoted from time to time, I have quite a long way ahead of me before I could certainly be considered a "Molly Mormon". In order to perfect this art I am arranging several objectives for myself- one of which is to create and consistently update this blog!
For those who are unaware of what it is to be a "Molly Mormon" I can simply state that it is the Mormon social equivalent to a "susie homemaker" or even a "soccer mom"... yikes! These stereotypes can often have a negative undertone but seeing as this is my objective to become as such, I feel that it would be an amazing feat to accomplish this astonishing task!
Molly Mormons are the amazing can-do-it-all women who are able to cook, clean, sew, craft, organize, volunteer, socialize, keep the schedules of their children & husbands and stay on top of all the church events, homework and extracurricular activities... Their tasks are endless and their days are long... So.. although the proper preparation for this would probably be to actually have four kids and an endless schedule, I'm going to just take it one step at a time and try to perfect the art in preparatory stages from cooking, cleaning, sewing, and cherishing my oh-so-loving husband ;)
As I begin this journey, I will remark on some of my latest creations and contemplations and I will address some of the overarching stereotypes of "Molly Mormons"...
Wish me luck!
Clearly, you aren't quite there yet, as most "molly mormons" I know, post 1 or 2 times a week.... and you're over 2 months past due... you need to step it up! The title of "Molly Mormon" doesn't just fall in someone's lap. It's coined from hard work and dedication.
